Until the 19th century the fortunes of the village followed the fortunes of the local landowner. One landowner had a sister Margery who married Ralph Reresby.

The earliest record of coal mining in Thrybergh relates to 1630 by that time at least two pits were working.Coal mining did not became a major industry until the mid-nineteenth century. In about 1890 the Dalton Main Colliery Company established a new pit at Silverwood.By 1947 a million tons of coal a year were being produced.

On Thursday 12th October, WPT held the finals of the Young Musician of the Year competition. This was a fantasticChildren from the aged of 8 can swim with SYS – as long as they can demonstrate a good swim technique and are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is a competent swimmer themselves. To improve the facilities at Thrybergh Country Park the existing café will be replaced with a larger café, retail and visitor centre which will include an external terrace to provide outdoor seating with views across the reservoir.
