About this deal
Dialogue is clear and tight, sounds perfectly natural and dominated by the frontal array; effects and ambience are taken up by all the surround speakers, so that visuals match the sound, phones ringing off screen for example, cars moving across screen; children playing at a party; there is a real sense of naturalism, despite the supernatural elements of the film. Jump scares are suitably loud, while bass is tremendous, being tight, deep and effective, filling out effects and adding significantly to the score. Creeping around the dark rooms is eerily effective. On November 23, 2022, it was further confirmed that Smile was a hit with audiences and critics alike. In particular, people seemed to respond to the film's fast pacing and grounded characters, although some did find the ending a little disappointing.

The film stars Sosie Bacon as a therapist named Rose Cotter, who, after witnessing the bizarre suicide of a patient, goes through increasingly disturbing and daunting experiences, leading her to believe what she is experiencing is supernatural. It also stars Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Kal Penn, and Rob Morgan, as well as Caitlin Stasey playing the same character she played in the short film. Anyway that put me off and I've promised myself I'm not listening to people anymore!!Ettenhoffer, Valerie (September 24, 2022).
