Drawing over 900,000 visitors and 600 pilots fromseven countries over a nine-day period, this is the largest and longest-running balloon festival in the country. It is a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle to watch over 500 hot air and gas-filled balloons shaped as animals, characters and cultural symbols ascend over the Sandia Mountains and New Mexico deserts. The first mass ascent of the iconic Bristol International Balloon Fiesta will take place on Thursday 10th August followed by the spectacular Nightglow, the Fiesta has announced.The harbourside provides beautiful views of Bristol even without mass ascents, with balloons making them even more special. It's a brief walk down the hill to the festival grounds or catch a Shuttle Brought to you by Beach Hut Deli. The event has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1979, when just 27 balloons appeared in the first mass ascent, and has become Europe’s largest free annual hot air balloon festival.

In the West Country there are two specialist facilities at Bristol Children’s Hospital and Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre and an extensive outreach programme across the South West. Parking proceeds benefit our non-profit event volunteers from both the THS Breakfast Rotary & THS Athletic Boosters. Parking fee does not include admission into the Festival.
