About this deal

The most favourite beans in Tuscany are definitely cannellini, which I have used in this Tuscan kale, white bean and pasta soup. Borlotti (cranberry beans) are also very popular. Both these types of beans are traditionally used in soups, with pasta and as side dishes. Step 3 Sauté onions, garlic, carrots and celery in olive oil until soft. Tuscan Kale. I loved Heinz spaghetti hoops as a child, there’s something so joyous and nostalgic about enjoying them on buttered toast. After not being able to have them for years I noticed the ingredients used were quite simple, so I set about creating the perfect recipe at home. I am VERY pleased with the result!

Many traditional dishes come from a time when poverty was the culinary mother of invention! The peasant and rural population made tasty, nutritious and filling meals from what was available and what they cultivated themselves without spending much money. Step 1 Gather your ingredients. So, anellini alla pecorara is a dish of a particular type of pasta and sauce eaten together. In Abruzzo, you can find fresh anellini to buy in many food stores. Interestingly, the pasta is sold as anellini alla pecorara or pecorara di Elice. Although, many locals still make this pasta themselves. Outside of the region, the only way to enjoy this dish in its authentic form is to use homemade pasta, which is what we did. What is anellini pasta?

If you enjoy these hoops, I would be really grateful if you could leave a star rating or review on the recipe card below. Thank you! I like to spread the cooked anelletti onto a rimmed baking sheet so it can cool down faster, then it’s basically like making a lasagne, just have all your ingredients ready to go so you can start layering it into your baking dish. Like I said there are many versions of this dish, I got inspired to add the bechamel from a video I saw on Rosella’s Cooking with Nonna, and I’m so glad I did because it really makes the sauce dreamy.

Known in the UK by the rather undignified title of ‘spaghetti hoops’, anelli are a pasta variety that has become synonymous with childhood nostalgia, served in a soupy, tomatoey sauce fresh from a Heinz tin. However, despite these slightly unsophisticated associations, they are in fact an authentic Italian pasta shape. Anelli has another smaller version, anellini or anelletti. These tiny rings, like the Stelline pasta, are used mostly in pasta soups. Anelli pasta is thought to have originated in the Italian region of Puglia, where it is still popular today. It is often served with hearty sauces and vegetables because the shape of the pasta helps hold the sauce and ingredients together. Anelli pasta is also known for its versatility, as it can be used in a variety of dishes, from soups to casseroles.Repeat layer like above with remaining ingredients ending with bechamel and a light layer of marinara.

Anelli pasta, also known as anellini or pasta hoops, is a small, ring-shaped pasta that is often used in soups and salads. It is a popular choice in Italian cuisine and is often served with tomato sauce or ragu. In Sicily, anellini pasta is sometimes baked with meat or tomato sauce, a dish known as anellini al forno. DURUM WHEAT, SEMOLINA, DURUM WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, FERROUS SULFATE (IRON), THIAMIN MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID. Despite the fact that Tuscany is famous for its beautiful and elaborate art and architecture, the traditional cuisine in this central Italian region is very rustic! Like other parts of Italy, the Tuscan kitchen is based on what Italians call ‘la cucina povera’ (the kitchen of the poor).

How to make homemade anellini pasta rings.

Turn down to a simmer and add the gluten free pasta. Keep everything simmering and cook for about 15 minutes, or until most of the liquid has been absorbed by the pasta, stirring occasionally. Place the eggplant slices on the baking sheets without overlapping them. Brush the tops with olive oil (about 2 more tbsp.) and sprinkle lightly with salt.
